Is your PC suffering from Virus Wars?

We are living in an era where we cannot think our life without a computer. It has become the most essential part of our life and there will be an endless list what we do with our computer. But what if our computer gets trapped in virus and we have to lose our data. We all guard our computer with antivirus software, scanning etc. These are the normal rules that everyone follow. But are you sure your effort is enough to keep your PC completely virus free?

Here are some advanced ways to keep your PC from deadly virus:

Sandbox your files

Sandbox is a security mechanism for separating running programs. It is often used to execute untested code, or untrusted programs from unverified third-parties or users. The sandbox typically provides a tightly-controlled set of resources for guest programs to run in, such as scratch space on disk and memory. Sandboxes are a specific example of virtualization.

Defragment your computer

Defragmentation is the process of locating the noncontiguous fragments of data into which a computer file may be divided as it is stored on a hard disk, and rearranging t
he fragments and restoring them into fewer fragments or into the whole file. Defragmentation enhances good performance on your computer and speeds up data access. It will minimize performance deterioration of computers and it can help to place all files together in the same place on your hard disk drive. It also reduces data access time and allows storage to be used more efficiently.

Create disk image of all your Hard Disk

A disk image is a single file or storage device containing the complete contents and structure representing a data storage medium or device, such as a har
d drive, tape drives floppy disk etc. Basically it can make replica of your files and save them. Disk imaging utilities omit unused file space from source media, or compress the disk they represent to reduce storage requirements, though these are typically referred to as archive files, as they are not literally disk images.

Use a firewall

A firewall is a device designed to permit or deny network transmissions and is frequently used to protect networks from unauthorized access. Firewalls can monitor and regulate wha
t should or should not access the internet from your computer. You will have to grant access to all your standard programs, but after that, your firewall will not bug you unless it notices something new attempting to access the internet.

Try different Operating System

Using the same operating system for long, then your computer will be more vulnerable to virus attacks. The similar operating system in use can make it the most attractive target for virus creators. Using a Linux or a Macintosh operating system greatly reduces your chances of getting infected to almost nil.

Along with these tips, you have to always remember that you should follow all the basic ways to keep your virus away. These tips will help only when you have good quality of antivirus and you take care of your computer well.
