Nokia Unveils Lumia 710 in India

Nokia flagship Windows Phone, the Lumia 710, will be available in stores directly from next week. Nokia has started shipping the Nokia Lumia 710 device globally and thus the device will be available in the Nokia stores world over including India within the next seven days.


Nokia 710 is expected to be available in India for a price of 20,000 approximately. Nokia Lumia 710 is an entry level Windows Phone. Its 3.7 inch ClearBlack TFT LCD screen offers an 800 x 480-pixel resolution. At the rear, there is a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with an LED flash. The camera can also shoot HD video at 30 frames per second.



Lumia 710 has a similar 1.4 GHz processor along with a 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of storage memory along with a micro SD card slot. Also available to purchase separately are a range of complementary audio accessories co-designed and co-developed with Monster.



The in-ear Nokia Purity Stereo headset by Monster, providing high-performance in-ear style and the on-ear Nokia Purity HD Stereo headset by Monster for the best mobile audio experience. Both products provide a fresh listening experience and are the first output of the exclusive long-term partnership between Nokia and Monster, intended to introduce a range of premium audio accessories to reflect the outstanding quality and bold style of the Lumia range.

Maxx Brings Projector Touchscreen Phone

Maxx Mobiles has introduced a full touch-screen projector phone, the Maxx Focus (MTP9). Spice and Intex had already launched their own projector phones in the past as well. Maxx Focus is priced at 6,999. The Maxx Focus features an in-built projector along with a 5 megapixel camera, 2.8 inch screen, 208 MHz processor, and even a free projector stand.


It has preinstalled King Movie Player application that compresses the actual video size to 1/10th without compromising on quality, allowing users to enjoy full length movie/video. The handset supports MP4 as well as 3GPP formats and comes with 1 GB flash memory.



Available in black with silver colour, the Maxx Focus MTP9 is powered with 1200 mAh battery that provides longer battery life. The phone provides sharing and connectivity functions such as Bluetooth and USB. It also includes dual SIM GSM support and MMS/WAP/GPRS.



With free 4 GB memory card, an expandable memory of up to 8 GB and preloaded audio/video content, the phone will entertain the music enthusiasts featuring loud speakers. The phone also supports MP3/WAV/AAC/AMR/MIDI formats for an audio player. It also includes wire-free FM Radio with FM scheduling.



The phone is Java-enabled and its Opera Mini application provides on the go browsing. The handset comes with a variety of applications such as Facebook, Twitter and Yahoo! Launcher, Nimbuzz (an instant messenger that supports MSN, Yahoo, Skype) and more.



The MAXX Focus MTP9 is also equipped with four active screens and widgets making it convenient for users to browse through recent applications on the phone.

Vodafone Launches 3G Android Smartphone at 4,995

Telecom major Vodafone launched a new Android-operating system based 3G handset "Vodafone Smart" in the country. Powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon S1 processor and Android 2.2.1 OS, the handset is designed for tech savvy customers providing them access to mobile apps, games, internet and social networking platforms on-the-go, Vodafone said in a statement.



The smartphone, priced at 4,995, is sure to delight young audience with its looks, smart features, host of exciting apps and 3G connectivity, Vodafone India Chief Marketing Officer Kumar Ramanathan said. Vodafone subscribers will also get a special introductory offer of double data Benefit on their 3G subscription, the statement said.



The handset comes with built-in features like 2.8 inch capacitive touch display, 2 mega pixel camera, video recording and MP4/3GP playback, up to 32GB expandable memory (2GB card free), stereo FM and MP3.

Toshiba Japan Announces Windows 7 Powered Tablet

Japan seems to really like Windows 7-powered tablets and this time, it’s Toshiba, which has announced the WT301/D for the local market. Just like so many Windows tablets, this model is specifically designed for use in enterprises.




It has10.1inch TFT display with 1,366×768 resolution and LED back light with Windows 7 Professional 32 bit as the OS. The Microsoft Home and Business 2010 are pre-installed, and consist of “next-generation” Atom processor. Toshiba plans to launch the tablet on the Japanese market next month and the price have not been fixed yet.


It is also packed with 64GB SSD, a 2GB memory, Bluetooth 3.0+HS and Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11b/g/n. There is an USB slot, microHDMI interface, it boasts1.3 MP cam, 0.3MP inner cam and stereo speakers.

Micromax Brings New Dual SIM Android Phone

Micromax has launched a new Android Smartphone, named Superfone Lite A75, with dual SIMs for 8,999. The A75 runs on Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread and has a 650 MHz processor. This dual SIM Android powered device from Micromax also comes with features like a 3.75 inch capacitive touchscreen, dual camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc. It also features a 32 GB expandable memory.



The A75 comes preloaded with apps like Google Voice Search which enables you to perform various actions by speaking to the phone, live sending text messages, taking down notes, play music, access websites, and find directions to places. The phone also has a series of apps like SAAVN for users to listen to their favourite music using this online music store, Times of India online newspaper, and Netqin antivirus.



The phone offers a practically unlimited phonebook and SMS memory and comes with a 3.5 mm universal jack for the best music experience.

LG Brings Dual SIM LG Optimus Net Smartphone

Korean mobile handset manufacturer LG has launched a new dual SIM version of Optimus Net Smartphone in markets like Russia and Brazil and is likely to bring it to India soon. The upcoming Android Smartphone has been named as LG Optimus Net P698.




It has been launched in Russia as the LG Optimus Link Dual Sim, and in Brazil as well as the LG Optimus Net Dual. Since the original Optimus Net is now available for 10,000, so the new handset is also expected to be priced around 10,000 -12,500.


The new P698 features Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 3.2 inch HVGA display, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5 mm headset jack, Bluetooth 3.0, 3.2 megapixel camera with VGA video recording, 512 MB of RAM,1500 mAh battery, and an 800 MHz processor. The handset only has 150 MB of internal memory, but it comes with a 2GB memory card in the box and has option of expandable memory up to 32GB.

Samsung Unveils Dual Screen, Dual SIM Android Phone

Samsung has unveiled an Android phone, named SCH-W999, in China. Samsung SCH-W999 is expected to be launched sometime in 2012, but there are no specific details on it or about the price.


It is a flip phone with two 3.5 inches Super Amoled 480 x 800 pixel displays. It is based on Android 2.3 operating system. The phone will also feature TouchWiz interface (Samsung's customized Android user interface) on both displays. Another important aspect of this phone is support for two SIMs, one CDMA and the other GSM, with support for 3G through both.





The phone packs a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSN8660 processor, a 5 megapixel rear camera with flash, autofocus and 4x digital zoom, dual SIM card slots, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. The phone is likely to be available in China only, at least for the time being, and is not likely to be cheap since the SCH-W999 is the successor of the W899, which costs around $1400 (about 72,000).



The phone is not going to be made available in India any time soon, not just because it is expensive but also because flip phones have not worked well here.
